My first quilt along...

So I know I've disappeared for awhile but it is the summer and it was bound to happen. I did get all of my first quilt top sewn together and now I just gotta finish it. I've been putting it off but I do want to finish it because I refuse to let myself start on the Charm Pack Quilt Along until I have at least one quilt under my belt. So I have about a week to get it done. I'm also trying to finish up a soft ABC book before my niece gets too old to enjoy it.  I have a lot on my plate between the multiple projects and working 2 jobs but I'm gonna have to make the time to finish the ones I've already started so I can start the new ones. Now onto the new projects! I stumbled upon Karrie's blog by way of Tracy at tracyjayquilts and fell in love with her Charm Pack Quilt Along! I too have 3 Plume charm packs that I've been dying to use but just couldn't seem to settle on what. Then Karrie's blog and quilt along came into view and I knew. This is what I'm going to use Plume on. It's going to look amazing and I won't be doing it all by my lonesome. I know I can ask questions if I get totally lost or confused. Needless to say I am excited to start on it! We'll see how it goes. And yes I will keep in touch more often now.

Lining up corners and not lining up....

Well its Wednesday...and the end of my three days at work. I worked on my quilt top last night some more and gotta say I'm pretty excited about how well its coming together. Now granted its far from perfect but its not too bad for the first one, if I do say so myself. Anyway here's some pics of my progress. See how nice the corners match up? I was real excited when I flipped this one over and saw that!

Then I had this one...where the corners don't line up as nice...thats the beginner quilter in me showing through. Now I know I should probably rip out the seams and try again but to be honest, I was just so excited to get this far, that I didn't really feel like doing that. Plus it reminds me that I'm still learning and not to get too frustrated.

Anyway, all things considered I can't complain. I do think I'm gonna add some sashing around it, like a border. Which in turn will make it a bit bigger. I think I'll be able to do that this weekend. I hope to anyway. We'll see how well that goes though. :) Now I'm off to work another project.

Manic Monday

So I know I'm behind but its been kind of crazy here in my little world. I did get my quilt top laid/layed out and I gotta say it looks good. But now comes the stressful part (at least stressful to me) of sewing all the strips together. We'll see how that goes. I am excited to start on it though. Here's a pic of what it looks like...

And yes that is part of my vacuum cleaner in the bottom right hand corner. Its a tight squeeze in my tiny apartment. But I'm making it work. I thought I'd show a pic of my niece, who I'm making this quilt for. Its the perfect size for her and then one day for her baby dolls.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good Monday!! I'll keep you updated on the progress of the quilt!!

Putting off doing the laundry

Well its Tuesday and I'm putting off doing laundry cause I hate laundry. So I'm here talking to ya'll! I finally pulled the trigger and started sewing!! LOL! But I gotta say, once I started and saw how good the blocks looked I couldn't stop!! So I have them sewn together in sets of two and today (at least I hope today) I will lay them out and start sewing them together in sets of 4. All while doing my laundry and cleaning up around the house. (My shoes have taken over the floor) Here's the finished product of the sets of 2 and the mess I made while I attempted to get them just right! Notice my seam ripper is right within reach. (I used it a lot)

I am quite proud though that I finished them and am more confident in the whole process now. So fingers crossed that the next step will be easier!

Sunday-Funday

Well I'm back to work this weekend. I haven't got much sewing done because I've been too tired to attempt it when I get off work. But I do have 3 days coming up that hopefully I can get some done. I have an idea floating around in my head that I need to layout and see if it'll work. I really hope it does because in my mind it looks really good! But we'll see if I can get it from my mind to fabric laid out on the floor. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pics of my progress over the next couple of days! So stay tuned!!

One hurdle crossed....

Well I'm still alive...just been busy. I did finally bite the bullet and practiced sewing 1/4" inseams. I feel much better at it, more confident thats for sure. So I guess the next logical step is to actual sew the peices together. We'll see about that. I'll post pictures of the first few blocks made. :) Also congrats in order for my friend Jamie!! Her pattern got accepted to be placed on Moda Bake Shop!! So keep an eye out for it in the next couple of weeks!! Anyway, its back to work for me...I promise I will post on here more often though!! Have a good week!!

Sunny Thursday

Well I'm back to work. I had 3 days off, which I didn't mind, but I am glad to be back working. I get bored with too much time on my hands. I'm sitting here, waiting patiently for the words to be posted on the Blog Bingo at In Stitches. Other than that, I have nothing new to report. I got my desk put together so now I have somewhere to sew at! Yay! And that led me to clean like never before. I even cleaned out my closet, which for me is a big deal. So I guess you can say I've been spring cleaning. I did sew a blanket yesterday for a co-worker of mine, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted, so I'm thinking I'll take it apart and try something else. The fabric is too cute not to use! I haven't started sewing on my quilt top yet. Still working up the nerve for that. Although I'm really wanting to do it and finish it so I can say I've made a quilt and get that confidence under my belt. We'll see. I'm off this weekend so maybe I'll make myself sit down and bite the bullet and start sewing. Although the whole family will be in town, and I honestly can't pass up a chance to see my favorite niece. Plus my sisters. :) That's about it for me! Hope everyone has a good Thursday! Now I'm gonna go check In Stitches! Hehe

Well I'm back to work, thus updating my blog. I have been super busy these past 2 days, thus why I have been remiss in updating. I finished the magnets for my sister, (finally). Now I just got to get them in the mail. We'll see how long that takes.:-)

Well I officially started cutting the fabric for my first quilt top last night. I was scared to death at first but I just held my breath and took the plunge. Now comes the other hard part, sewing the pieces together. Once again we'll see how long it takes me to bite the bullet and to start. Hopefully Monday. Now how sad is it, that last night, a FRIDAY night mind you, I stayed in and cut fabric while listening to a Lifetime movie in the background. I'm an old lady now. Just get me some cats and call me the crazy cat lady. Oui. I did go fabric shopping Thursday and couldn't help myself with some of these fabrics. I have no clue what I'll do with
them...yet but I'm sure I'll figure something out. The two on the left are flannel for baby blankets I'm making while the rest are cotton.

Well I hope everyone has a great Saturday!! Keep your fingers crossed that I actually start sewing on my quilt top...sooner then later!!

Happy Hump Day!!!

Hey ya'll!! It's Wednesday and once again I find myself working. Its not that bad but I'd rather be home, finishing the project I started last night! I stayed up way too late working on custom magnets for my lovely younger sister, Jenna. She happens to be a foods teacher and I found stickers that are all about baking!! In pink, no less!! So I stayed up, laminating and cutting, trying to get it all done. I didn't realize that I don't have the actual magnets to put on the back till I was done. Go figure. My ADD at its finest. I'll post pics as soon as I can, because I think they turned out way cute!! So happy Wednesday!! Hope its a great one!!
